Getting an education is a great feeling. It allows you to increase your knowledge, build relationships, and better your future. When it comes to healthcare training, you’ll also get satisfaction knowing that what you do every day helps people achieve better well-being. At The Praxis Institute, we offer a selection of different healthcare training programs that allow students to realize their professional dreams. However, if the thought of affording an education seems daunting, you need to consider the financial aid options available.

What Is Financial Aid?

Financial aid is a source of monetary assistance that students use to enroll in schools. Financial aid comes in many forms, allowing students and their families options on how best to approach the cost of their education. There are loans (both federal and private), grants, and scholarships to help make your education more affordable.

What Financial Aid Options Are There?

If you want to attend The Praxis Institute, you’ll first need to apply and get accepted into one of our healthcare training programs. You can then apply for financial aid. Some forms of assistance include:

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Filling out a FAFSA form allows students to be considered for federal, state, and school financial aid programs, including loans, grants, scholarships, and even work-study programs. You’ll need to complete this free form each year to remain eligible for receiving need-based student aid. You’ll also want to ensure that you complete the form before the deadline, which can be found on the FAFSA website.

Federal Loans

Loans are borrowed money that needs to be paid back with interest. Student loans may come from the federal government or private lenders, such as banks or other financial institutions. Federal student loans are a great option because they come with low, fixed interest rates, meaning you will save money when it’s time to pay it back. You also don’t need to pay back federal student loans until you have left college or drop below half-time. The Praxis Institute offers the following federal loan options:

  • Federal direct subsidized loans: Low-interest loans that don’t accrue interest while the student is attending school
  • Federal direct unsubsidized loans: Loans available for both undergraduate and graduate students that are not based on financial need
  • Federal direct plus loans: Loans available for parents of students that allow them to borrow money for a variety of different educational costs

Federal Grants

Grants work similar to loans but typically don’t need to be paid back. The Praxis Institute accepts Federal Pell Grants and the Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG). These are both designed for undergraduate students, and the FSEOG is limited, meaning there are only so many available per year.
